Data Recording in Cala Blava and Arenal, COnBoSer Project,

Today, 26/03/2025 the underwater robotics Team has done a data recording campaign in Cala Blava and Arenal for the ConBoSer project, on board the RodMan boat of IMEDEA. The objective was recording areas with Posidonia and Cymodocea, with vision and Side Scan Sonar.

The Marine Robotics Team is back from the Cabrera January 2025 CONBOSER Project Campaign

Last Week , the Marine Robotics Teams was in Cabrera National Park developing visual and acoustic data gathering tasks in ecosystems of special biological interest, with the New SPARUS II moving around different points of the main island, and LANTY, the static frontal camera deployed at the Port area to capture video sequences of several fish species.

Presentation in the Sysmposium of Monitoring Mediterranean Coastal Areas, of the project for the detection of Halimeda Incrassatta in Cabrera national Park

This week the SRV has presented some results of the project for the detection of Halimeda Incrassatta in Cabrera National Park, in the Sysmposium of Monitoring Mediterranean Coastal Areas, in Livorno (Tuscany).

The SRV Marine Robotics Team celebrates Turbot’s 10th Birthday

Dear friends, it’s a pleasure to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our beloved Turbot. Time flies when you’re having fun!

Our AUV was the second of the large Sparus II family to sail around the world. We have had many experiences in this time, some difficult and some more pleasant, but all of them have taught us and made us grow personally and as a research group. It is time to thank all those who have dedicated their time to making Turbot grow. The list is very long, but we are especially grateful to the members of SRV, VICOROB, CIRTESU, IQUA, IMEDEA, SOCIB, and a long etcetera. For many more years and new challenging adventures to come!

The Systems Robotics and Vision Group Attended the OTTER ASV Training Course in Maritime Robotics (Trondheim-Norway)

The past 2 and 3 of May, several members of the Marine Team attended the training course to manage the OTTER ASV from Maritime Robotics (https://www.maritimerobotics.com/). The course was given in the facilities of the Company in Trondheim (Norway). Thank you guys for your hospitality and dedication !!!

The SRV contributed to the Workshop on Environmental Monitoring and Preservation

The SRV participated in the workshop on Environmental Monitoring and Preservation, held on 14 March at the European Robotics Forum ERF2024 in Rimini (Italy). The event consisted of the presentation of several keynotes related to the use of robotic technologies in marine environmental applications, followed by a round table with specialists in the field. The meeting was attended by representatives from universities and research centres from different European countries. The UIB was represented by Gabriel Oliver. You will find an introduction to the workshop by Gabriele Ferri and Enrico Simetti here.
