Alberto Ballesteros received his ‘Licenciatura’ degree in Informatics from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in 2012 and a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technology from the same institution in 2023. Since 2013, he has been teaching in the Department of Mathematics and Informatics at the UIB, where he currently holds the position of senior lecturer. He has taught various courses in the area of Systems Engineering and Automation, including IoT Device Development, Automation Laboratory, and Industrial Communication Networks. Additionally, he teaches Application Areas of IoT in the Master’s Degree in Intelligent Systems.
Dr. Ballestertos’s research interests include dependable and real-time systems, fault-tolerant distributed systems, adaptive systems and industrial networks. He is the co-author of more than 20 publications in international scientific conferences and journals. One of his papers received the Best Paper Award at the IEEE Workshop on Factory Communication Systems (WFCS) in 2016. He has also contributed to 3 national research projects and was a visiting researcher at Universidade do Porto in 2024.
Dr. Ballesteros was member of the organizing team for the IEEE WFCS 2015. He also served as a member of the organizing team and publication co-chair of the IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics (INDIN) 2021. Additionally, he has reviewed technical submissions for several scientific conferences.
